Bruce Harvey began guitar studies at the age of eleven. He is a graduate of California State University Northridge and he spent two years in Spain studying Spanish guitar styles.  He holds a California Community College Teaching Credential and taught for several years at Santa Rosa Community College.

Bruce served with the Peace Corps in Somalia, East Africa for two years, where he developed an interest in World Music.  Upon returning to the United States, he formed the Contemporary Flamenco  group, Del Mundo, with renowned Japanese guitarist, Shigeru Miyoshi.  Del Mundo has been an established Southern California  band for fifteen years and has released three albums.

In addition to Del Mundo, Bruce Harvey is the lead guitarist for the Latin dance band, La Prima Lejana.  He is also active as a solo guitarist, performing a mixture of classical, jazz, popular and contemporary flamenco styles.

In 2002, after ten years of volunteer work in the Poway Unified School District, Bruce received the “Volunteer of the Year Award”  for his work in creating and implementing a music program for Special Education Students.

"special recognition for your hard work, dedication, and your willingness to go the extra mile for students in the Poway Unified School District." -  Sharon, Director of Communications, PUSD
